About Rob Nye:

The Blue PoolRob Nye received his Fine Arts degree from the University of Southern California, and studied under James Jordan at the L.A. Art Center. For over thirty years, Nye worked variously as a film producer, senior advertising executive, and creative director for both corporate and international philanthropic endeavors. In the late '90s, Nye put aside these "former worlds" to engage in a full-time studied practice of the visual arts, primarily through the self-developed discipline of Extractionist™ Painting.

By way of insight, Nye was born with acute dyslexia, and credits this as the principal instrument for his ability to look intently into objects rather than simply at them. Through the Extractionist process, the artist’s onetime weakness has become an innovative creative asset, enabling others to witness vivid scenes and striking images they might otherwise overlook, or find difficult to see in the little things all around them.

Nye's Extractionist paintings have been purchased by multinational corporations, university research scientists, military generals, and numerous other private collectors. His work continues to appear in national and regional competitions, solo exhibits in San Francisco and Northern California, and gallery exhibits in Southern California, and is always available for viewing through his studio gallery in Marin County.
